Term Two - Week 9
Week 9, 28th June - 2nd July
Hangi Update from Katie:
Thank you to all those who have offered to help with both the kai preparation and the hangi pit.
On Wednesday 7 July, the kai preparation will start at 3.30pm and go until we are finished (about 7pm). Please come down whenever suits your whānau and bring your own sharp knives and chopping boards. Traditionally this work is done by the women and children, however, in the school community context, we welcome all help.
Hangi pit - please contact Mike Anderson at principal@waimairi.school.nz if you want to help with this.
Dietary Needs
Hangi -
All hangi packages will be gluten-free and dairy-free. Vegetarian and Halal meat packages will also be provided. Halal meat packages will be cooked outside the hangi pit in a school oven to avoid contamination from the pork.
Breakfast -
Some gluten-free cereal will be provided. If your child is dairy-free, please provide your own dairy-free milk for breakfast.
Please look out for a detailed booklet in the next newsletter with details about how the day will run. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 8 July!
- Sue and Vanessa's Ora group will now have their library sessions on a Wednesday and Tania and Tina will continue to have their library session on a Monday. Please make sure that your child brings their library bag and book back each week on their library day.
- A reminder that there is no school on the last Friday of the term as there is a Staff Only Day (Friday 9th July).
- We are having a break from using our beyblades for the rest of the term. It would be great if you could ask the children to leave these at home till after the holidays.
- Check out our Museum trip photos below. We had a great time exploring the museum and learning about minibeasts!
- Once again a huge thanks to all the caregivers that came along and helped. You were all amazing, so caring and diligent, we are so lucky!!
