Welcome to week 4!

A big welcome to two new children in Ngå Puna this week. Isaac and Keiran. Isaac started school today and Keiran will be starting soon. Ra whanau ki a koe nga tamariki - happy birthday boys and welcome to Ngå Puna. We are thrilled to have you.

Two trips coming up

Junior Park explorers - 

Wednesday the 9th of June we are heading to the Botanical Gardens to participate in the Junior Park Explorers programme run by educators from the City Council. We will be leaving school at 9, returning by 1:30. Any associated contributions will be added to your activity levy. More details will be out this week. Please check your child's home learning folder. Parent helpers will be required. 

Mini Beasts Galore - Canterbury Museum

Wednesday the 23rd of June we are heading to the Canterbury Museum to participate in the Mini Beasts Galore programme run by a Museum Educator. Children will be using their skills of observation to get up close to mini creatures and their features. Save the date! We will asking for parent helpers to assist on our trip. We really do appreciate all that you guys do for us. More information will be out closer to the time.

What's on - upcoming dates and events

  • Mondays - Library day. Bring books back to issue more
  • Tuesdays - Kapa Haka with Matua Steve
  • Wednesdays - Ez lunch orders - oder online by 9am for delivery on Wednesday http://www.ezlunch.co.nz/
  • Fridays- bike day - teachers supervise biking during learning choices
  • 3rd of June - parent information evening. Claire Knight from Learning Matters will be holding a parent information afternoon on structured literacy from 3:15 -4 :15. Hear about our professional development and what we are doing in class. Childcare will be available.
  • 9th of June, Trip to the Botanical Gardens
  • 23rd of June, Trip to the Canterbury Museum

  Welcome to Ngā Puna - 'The Springs’ We (Tina Dower, Tania Stott and Lynley Cummack) are thrilled to be working together as the New Entrant teachers in Ngā Puna. We are looking forward to welcoming new families to our Waimairi community as well as re connecting with existing families as younger tamariki are beginning their school journey. Term 4 - Week 6

Kia Ora whanau. Welcome to week 6 of our 9 week Term. They certainly are flying by! A big thank you to our fabulous caretaker Darren who has our pool up and running. Soo lucky to have a school pool! Please send named togs and towels in a tog bag to school daily. We only go if the outside temperature is 16 degrees or above. Initially, we focus on safe entry and exit of the school pool, gaining water confidence, and moving in different ways through the water. Our official times are: Tania and Tina- Tuesday/Friday  Vanessa and Sue- Monday/Wednesday Even though these are official times the kids can bring their togs and towels each day just in case there is a free-swimming slot. Autumn Exploring - Our trip to St James Park

 What a wonderful time we had last Friday 'Spotting Autumn'. As always with school trips, the journey was as exciting as the destination! We travelled down the cycleway and found a most marvellous path to run down. We loved watching the children show each other Manaakitanga by encouraging and helping their friends up the steep bank. When we got to the park we enjoyed crunching through the leaves and finding conker seeds. The leaves were beautifully dry, perfect for rolling on! Here are some photos below of our trip.
