Term 3 - Week 9

Welcome to week 9 of our 10 week term. The weeks certainly have been flying by!

This week Tina and Tania have New Entrant meeting's with some Nga Puna parents. We will be in and out throughout the day. The lovely Kate Mitchell will be in to cover and work alongside Vanessa and Sue.

Here is a 'taster' of what our children's calendar art looks like. Details will be out soon with how to order. These always make wonderfull Christmas gifts and are another way you can support our schools fundraising ventures.

Maths-a-thon Postponed

We have made a decision to postpone maths-a-thon this year due to the time pressure on planned events for the rest of 2021 due to lockdown. If any money has already been paid, please return to the sponsor or if they want to, they can make it a donation to the school that will be put towards maths resourcing. 


Touch Rugby

Tuesday nights at Nunweek Park starting 19 October. - A message from the organisers.
We  need at least 4 more Y0-2 girls and 1 more Y3-4 girl .  We also need  2 more coaches - one each at Y0-2 and Y3-4 .

Sibling Photos 

Heritage who take our school photos, has unfortunately cancelled sibling photos for all their schools this year. We know if we were one of the schools who was needing a new slot due to lockdown, we would appreciate that other schools have forfeited sibling photos for the year to allow all schools to get their class photos done. Sibling
photos will now be in 2022.

- Last day of Term 3 - Thursday the 30th of October (Friday teacher only day)

- Term 4 begins Monday 18th of October

- Monday 25th October - Labour Day - Public Holiday, School closed

- Friday 12th November - Show weekend/ Canterbury Anniversary day - School closed

- Last day of the year - Thursday the 16th of December

- Monday - Tina and Tania Library

- Wednesday - Bey blade day

                  Friday bike day!

                      Checking out our new playground. We had so many questions for the builders! 


We found out that each rock weighs 600kgs!  The digger has to take the rocks one at a time down to where the stream is going to be. The builders would check their plan and make sure they placed them in the right position.

  Welcome to Ngā Puna - 'The Springs’ We (Tina Dower, Tania Stott and Lynley Cummack) are thrilled to be working together as the New Entrant teachers in Ngā Puna. We are looking forward to welcoming new families to our Waimairi community as well as re connecting with existing families as younger tamariki are beginning their school journey. Here are a few notes/reminders for all. Please do come and see us if you have any wonderings. School starts at 8:50am. Please help children unpack their bag for the first we while.  School finishes at 3pm each day. We ask you to  wait outside the classroom  until we let the children go  We enter and exit the Ngā Puna building from the outside doors. Term 4 - Week 6

Kia Ora whanau. Welcome to week 6 of our 9 week Term. They certainly are flying by! A big thank you to our fabulous caretaker Darren who has our pool up and running. Soo lucky to have a school pool! Please send named togs and towels in a tog bag to school daily. We only go if the outside temperature is 16 degrees or above. Initially, we focus on safe entry and exit of the school pool, gaining water confidence, and moving in different ways through the water. Our official times are: Tania and Tina- Tuesday/Friday  Vanessa and Sue- Monday/Wednesday Even though these are official times the kids can bring their togs and towels each day just in case there is a free-swimming slot. The school pool will be open to use outside of school hours for families that purchase a pool key from this Friday 19th November.   A big thank you to Darren who has been working hard to get the pool and surrounding areas up and running in preparation for this! Autumn Exploring - Our trip to St James Park

 What a wonderful time we had last Friday 'Spotting Autumn'. As always with school trips, the journey was as exciting as the destination! We travelled down the cycleway and found a most marvellous path to run down. We loved watching the children show each other Manaakitanga by encouraging and helping their friends up the steep bank. When we got to the park we enjoyed crunching through the leaves and finding conker seeds. The leaves were beautifully dry, perfect for rolling on! Here are some photos below of our trip.
