Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori - Maori Language Week

What a great couple of days back we had last week. Children were all happy to reconnect with their friends and teachers and ready for learning choices! Thanks for your support with pickups and drop offs under level 2. 

This week we will be saying everyday phrases and learning some familiar songs in Te Reo.

Welcome to school!
A big welcome to our newest tamariki in Nga Puna, Liam, Zack and Oliver Story. So good to have you with us. Happy birthday you big 5 year olds!

Touch Rugby
Summer is coming and that means it's time for touch Rugby! Touch is a great sport for all ages and skill levels. Last Summer we had 10 teams spread across Years 0-6 so there is room for everyone that wants to play. Played on Tuesday nights at Nunweek Park the competitions starts the first week of Term 4, so get your entries in quick by following this link: https://form.jotform.com/212050993477056 Waimairi School Touch Registration Form .

ENTRIES CLOSE THIS FRIDAY 17TH OF SEPTEMBER.
We do get a few kids from Nga Puna join up. A great way to meet parents and kids outside of school hours.

Photos
 Learning space and individual portrait photos will be taken next Wednesday, 15 September. Children should be wearing school uniform and, if possible, wearing a red polo shirt. Culottes (girls) and navy shorts (boys) are preferable to track pants. If the weather is cold, students can wear their winter uniform.

Year 5 and 6 sport, cultural and sibling photos are now scheduled for Term 4.

Term 4 - Week 6

Kia Ora whanau. Welcome to week 6 of our 9 week Term. They certainly are flying by! A big thank you to our fabulous caretaker Darren who has our pool up and running. Soo lucky to have a school pool! Please send named togs and towels in a tog bag to school daily. We only go if the outside temperature is 16 degrees or above. Initially, we focus on safe entry and exit of the school pool, gaining water confidence, and moving in different ways through the water. Our official times are: Tania and Tina- Tuesday/Friday  Vanessa and Sue- Monday/Wednesday Even though these are official times the kids can bring their togs and towels each day just in case there is a free-swimming slot. Autumn Exploring - Our trip to St James Park

 What a wonderful time we had last Friday 'Spotting Autumn'. As always with school trips, the journey was as exciting as the destination! We travelled down the cycleway and found a most marvellous path to run down. We loved watching the children show each other Manaakitanga by encouraging and helping their friends up the steep bank. When we got to the park we enjoyed crunching through the leaves and finding conker seeds. The leaves were beautifully dry, perfect for rolling on! Here are some photos below of our trip.
