Term 3 Week 3

Kia ora Koutou,

Week three is here already. We are so pleased that our tamariki have settled back to school life so seamlessly. We've had a few new children start and are so impressed at how much 'Manakitanga' has been shown towards them.
There is a lot going on so please ask if you have any questions.

Whittakers chocolate
Amazing Effort so far with our Chocolate fundraiser. Money and chocolate returns are due on Monday 16th. Bring back any unsold chocolate ASAP so we can redistribute.

Term 4 Visual Arts Inquiry.
This term our inquiry focus is on the visual arts. The general theme across the school is 'Journey'. We will be providing the children with many visual art experiences and encouraging them to 'give it a go', helping them realise we are all artists. We are using many books to support their learning and will be looking particularly at a book by Peter Reynolds called 'The Dot. You can check it out here.
We will also be exploring the relationship between colour and our emotions.
we will be going on our own personal 'Visual Arts Journey'!

K.I.T book
Each night your child will come home with a Home Learning Folder. In it we put activities to support the learning we have done at school. If your child is keen and willing they can do it at home. However, if your child is tired and wanting to relax and play after a busy day at school then that is fine too. The children work super hard when they are at school and they also need a break. If they are keen then go for it!

A big thank you to the lovely Lorri (Sebastians mum) who came in to show us a selection of her beautiful artworks. Lorri taught us that you can use different materials to create art work with, and that art doesn't always have to be pictures of 'things', it can be colours and shapes too.
Thanks Lorri.
